C. elegans
stained with Nile Red and a BODIPY-labeled fatty acid (green)
The picture is of the first few intestinal cells. Red and green colocalize in the intestine, but Nile Red does not stain the hypodermis, which is stained by BODIPY. The picture acquired at 40x on spectral confocal and spectral unmixed was used to separate the overlapping emission spectra of the two dyes. Image provided by Brendan Mullaney, Ashrafi Lab.
C. elegans
with lipid droplets labeled with Nile Red
This is an overlay of a DIC image and a Nile Red fluorescence image. Acquired on the 6D scope. Sample provided by Amanda Kahn-Kirby, Ashrafi Lab.
Time lapse movie of a Drosophila S2 cell in mitosis
Green is Histone H2-GFP; Red is mCherry-tubulin. Images were acquired with a 100x/1.4 lens on the Spinning Disk Confocal.

3D reconstruction of
C. elegans
neurons
Red shows the AWC neurons, labeled by the odr-1 promoter driving dsRed. Green shows the AVK neurons, labeled by the hlh-15 promoter driving GFP. Acquired on the Swept-Field Confocal with a 60x/1.2 water immersion lens. Original image stack was 85 z-sections and was acquired in ~5 sec. Movie provided by Amanda Kahn-Kirby, Ashrafi Lab.
Live yeast cells
Live yeast cells expressing a mitochondrially targeted RFP. Acquired on the Spinning Disk Confocal. Movie provided by Susanne Rafelski, Marshall Lab.
